Already but not yet, not yet but already

If defined Christologically, marriage is a prefigurement of the mystical union of Christ and his church, while singleness is a prefigurement of the resurrection life, where “people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” (Mat 22.30) Thus, marriage is a sign of a reality already but not yet, while singleness is a sign of a reality not yet but already.
