Wright and church unity

The unity of the church constitutes the very heart of the gospel according to Tom Wright. Of course, he has displayed his own commitment to the cause, for example by his continual support for his good friend, Rowan Williams, during this difficult time for the Anglican Communion which is in the brink of schism.

Ironically, the one who argues endlessly for church unity has perhaps unintentionally caused “divisions” among the evangelical world (and, particularly, the Reformed tribe). And, the double irony is that by attacking Wright his opponents has perhaps proved — negatively! — Wright’s thesis that church unity is indeed the gospel.
