The seven heavens of C. S. Lewis

I just finished reading Michael Ward’s Planet Narnia and I guess his argument that The Chronicles of Narnia is constructed according to classical planets is pretty plausible:

1. Jupiter: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

2. Mars: Prince Caspian

3. Sun: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

4. Moon: The Silver Chair

5. Mercury: The Horse and His Boy

6. Venus: The Magician’s Nephew

7. Saturn: The Last Battle

The next task, of course, is to re-read the Chronicles and see for yourself whether C. S. Lewis has really baptized and redeemed the planetary gods (especially in the light of Eustace, Lucy, Edmund, Caspian, and Reepicheep sailing east to Layar Lebar soon). Ad fontes.
