Mesopotamia and Egypt are the two superpowers of Ancient Near East. Cradles of human civilization, so we learnt in our history lesson. They are the USA and the USSR before the Cold War.
They are separated by the land of Canaan (i.e., today’s Palestine), which underlines the strategic importance of conquering this small piece of land (indeed until this very day and I think we simply can’t foresee when the conflict will be over). Whoever managed to rule Canaan will rule the trade route and hence the world.
Abraham came to the land of Canaan from Mesopotamia, Isaac stayed in Canaan, while Jacob would move to Egypt, before later on the descendants of Jacob would return to Canaan from Egypt. So in some sense the Israelites came from Mesopotamia and Egypt.
Coincidental? Probably not.
