Somehow I managed to go to Shalom bookstore today. This time around, IVP rules!
1. Adam S. McHugh, Introverts in the Church: Finding Our Place in An Extroverted Culture, IVP.
How would you categorize Jesus with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator? Is he an introvert or an extrovert? Do you think we celebrate extroversion more than introversion? Can introverts thrive in the church? Is it fair to paint the introverts as antisocial and passive?
2. Sandra L. Richter, The Epic of Eden: A Christian Entry into the Old Testament, IVP.
How do you make sense of the Old Testament? Does it really matter at all? This is an introductory biblical theology to the Old Testament.
3. James K. Beilby and Paul Rhodes Eddy (eds.), The Historical Jesus: Five Views, IVP.
At one end of the spectrum you have Robert M. Price who doesn’t really believe that the historical Jesus did ever exist, and at the other end you have Darrell L. Bock who represents the Evangelical view of Jesus. In between you would read the views of John Dominic Crossan, Luke Timothy Johnson, and James D. G. Dunn. After each one presented their view, the others would respond. It should be a good read.
