The Gentile Evangelist

Luke is the only Gentile writer in the New Testament. He wrote a fairly Gentile-minded Gospel (Luke’s Gospel is well known to have a special interest to the outcasts: the women, the poor, the Gentiles) and he followed the Apostle to the Gentiles, St. Paul. Interestingly, Luke’s Gospel is also the one which was most meticulously researched: “So I made a careful study of everything and then decided to write and tell you exactly what took place.” (Luk 1.2) Certainly the Gentile Evangelist did not take anything for granted. No Jewish background means lots of research.
